UL 2799A:2018-07 Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Waste Classifications.
1.1 UL 2799A provides classification of waste diversion performance based on the Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Waste to Landfill, UL 2799. All definitions and scope requirements used in UL 2799 apply.
2 General
2.1 Achieving Zero Waste will eliminate disposal of useful materials and will encourage the establishment of synergies between organizations where the discarded materials from one operation becomes the source material for another. As in natural systems the ideal state is one in which materials are put to continuous productive use. This standard defines levels of performance, classifications, for waste diversion.
2.2 All sections of the current version of Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Waste to Landfill, UL 2799 apply in this standard.
3 Units of Measurement
3.1 For the purposes of this standard. values shall be reported in accordance with the requirements of
Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Waste to Landfill, UL 2799.
4 Undated References
4.1 Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the requirements of this standard shall be interpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard.

5.1 Definitions in Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Waste to Landfill, UL 2799 apply in full for the purpose of this standard.
COMPLIANCE, EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
6 Diversion Rate Equations
6.1 The diversion rate equations from Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Waste to Landfill, UL 2799 are reproduced here for convenience. When performing calculations, the of UL 2799 in effect at the time of assessment and the equations within that standard shall be applied in preference to the equations below.
6.2 The diversion rate shall be calculated using one or more of the following equations.
7 Classifications
7.1 Equations in the version of Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Zero Waste to Landfill, UL 2799 in effect at the time of classification are used for calculations.
7.2 Before classification, in Equation 1 of 6.2, Diversion Rate w/o Thermal (Equation 1 of 13.1 in UL
2799), is used to calculate the diversion rate. If the diversion rate calculated using equation 1 is below
90%, the diversion rate cannot be classified using Table 7.1 below. Waste diversion without energy recovery must be at least 90% for any Zero Waste to Landfill claim. Diversion levels above 80°’o, inclusive of waste to energy, are eligible for use of an ECV mark. though without the “Zero Waste” nomenclature. See Minimum Diversion Rate for Program, Section 8 for details.
7.3 If the diversion rate meets the requirements of 6.2 (90% or greater diversion without energy recovery), in Equation 3 of 6.2, Diversion Rate (Equation 3 of 13.1 in UL 2799), can be used to calculate diversion rate and Table 7.1 used to classify the diversion rate.UL 2799A pdf download.
