UL 2485:2018-05 Environmental Claim Validation Procedure (ECVP) for Recyclability of Paper-Based Products. 2.1 This procedure provides a framework for the evaluation and validation of paper-based packaging products and other innovative paper-based products for material recycling. 2.2 This procedure and the test protocols described within will establish whether the item is technically recyclable, but will not establish that the item will be accepted for recycling by all or the majority of municipal recycling programs in the United States. 3 Units of Measurement 3.1 For the purposes of this procedure, values shall be reported in accordance with the requirements of the individual criterion. If the manufacturer’s choice of units deviates, that change shall be documented and justified as to the reason and relevance for that change. 4 Undated References 4.1 Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the requirements of this procedure shall be interpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard. 5 Glossary 5.1 For the purpose of this procedure. the following definitions apply. 5.2 PAPER-BASED PRODUCT — General term used to cover all paper — anci board — based converted products. 5.3 RECYCLABLE — Characteristic of a product, packaging, or associated component that can be diverted from the waste stream through available processes and programs and can be collected, processed, and returned to use in the form of raw materials or products. © ISO. The actual end yield of material recoverable at any specific recycler may vary. 6 Documentation 6.1 The manufacturer shall provide the completed test reports for recyclability of paper-based product(s). All raw data and calculation methods used to calculate recycling performance of paper-based product(s) under test shall be provided. At a minimum, this shall include a written description of the test method(s). all raw test results and calculations. See Information Required, Section 11. for a more complete description. 7 Procedure 7.1 The manufacturer shall submit the requested information necessary for verifying that sufficient control procedures exist to rely on documented bill of material and formulations. 7.2 A sufficient quantity of product shall be provided for testing the repulpability...
