CSA 8.1-2015 Elastomeric composite hose and hose couplings for conducting propane and natural gas. 5 Hose end couplings Note: This Clause covers newly produced hose end fittings constructed entirely of new unused ports and materials that will be used with a hose complying with Clause 4 of this Standard. 5.1 Construction All gas containing hose end couplings consistent with the service for which the connector is designed, shall be of corrosion-resistent metal or corrosion-resistent platted metal conforming to the test criteria specified in this section. 5.1.1 Threads on pipe-end connections of fittings shall be taper pipe threads conforming to the Standard for Pipe Threads, General Purpose (Inch, ASME B1.20.1, NPTor the Standard for Dry Seal Pipe Threads (Inch), ASME Bl.20.3 NPTF. 5.1.2 Flare type fittings up to and including 3/4 in (19.05 mm) shall comply with the Standard for Refrigeration Tube Fittings, SAE J513. 5.1.3 Flare type fittings larger than 3/4 in (19.05 mm) shall comply with the Stadnard for Metallic Tube Connections for Fluid Power and General Use — Part 1: 37° Flared Fittings, J514/1. 5.1.4 A standard propane cylinder connection device shall comply with the Standard for Cylinder Connection Devices, ANSI Z21.81 • CSA 6.25 and the Standard for Adapters and Cylinder Connection Devices for Portable LP-Gas CylinderAssemblies, UL 2061. For the purpose of this Standard these regulator assemblies are considered hose end fittings and shall comply with the performance requirements of Clauses 5.1.7, 5.1.8 or 5.1.9 specified by product equivalency found in Clauses 6.1.1, 6.1.2 and Clause 6.1.3 of this Standard. 5.1.5 Regulators that are integral to the hose assembly shall comply with the Standard for Gas Appliance Pressure Regulators, ANSI Z21.18 • CSA 6.3 and/or the Standard for LP-Gas Regulators,UL 144. For the purpose of this Standard these regulator assemblies are considered hose end fittings and shall comply with the performance requirements of Clauses 5.1.7, 5.1.8, or 5.1.9 specified by product equivalency found In Clauses 6.1.1, 6.1.2 and Clause 6.1.3 of this Standard. 5.1.6 Valves and/or gas controls for gas appliances shall comply with the Standard for Manually Operated Gas Valves for Appliances, Appliances Connector Valves and Hose End Valves, ANSI Z2 1.15 • CSA 9.1 the Standard for Automatic Valves for Gas Appliances, ANSI Z21.21 • CSA 6.5 and/or the Standard for Combination Gas Controls for Gas Appliances, ANSI Z21.78 • CSA 6.20.
