3 Definitions and abbreviations 3.1 Definitions The following definitions shall apply in this Standard: Hydrometeorological monitoring stations — automated, surface-based, environmental monitoring stations that collect time series data of physical atmospheric conditions, fluxes of water, and energy between the land surface and the lower atmosphere and of water storage on the land surface. Note: Hydrometric and glaciological parameters are excluded. Network operator — an agency, company, or individual owning and/or operating any number of hydrometeorological monitoring stations. Quality management — a set of quality assurance and control policies, processes, and procedures which ensure that the data will satisfy the need for which they were intended. 3.2 Abbreviations The following abbreviations shall apply in this Standard: OSCARI — Observing Systems Capability Analysis and Review tool WIGOSI — WMO Integrated Global Observing System WMOI — World Meteorological Organization
