CSA C22.2 NO. 131-2017 Type TECK 90 cable.
5.1.2 Joints
Joints in conductors shall comply with CSA C22.2 No. 38.
5.1.3 Sizes
The circuit conductor in single-conductor cable shall be not smaller than No, o AWG for copper and No. 4 AWG for aluminum. The circuit conductors in multi-conductor cables shall be not smaller than No. 14 AWG for copper and No. 12 AWG for aluminum, except that No. 8 AWG shall be the minimum size of conductor for a voltage rating of 5000 V. In both single- and multi-conductor cables, the maximum conductor size shall be 2000 kcmil for copper and aluminum.
5.1.4 Conductor shield
5.1.4.1
5.1.4.1.1
An extruded, concentric, thermoset conductor shield shall be used on circuit conductors of cables rated 5000 V. Conductor shielding shall be a semiconducting material of a minimum thickness as specified in Table 1 applied over the surface of the conductor, firmly bonded to the inner surface of the insulation and compatible with it. The thickness shall be determined in accordance with the average thickness test and minimum thickness at any point test in CSA C22.2 No. 2556.
5.1.4.1.2
For compact round conductors that have a diameter eccentricity less than or equal to 0.051 mm (2 mils) as measured before the extruded shield is applied, the thickness values specified in Table 1 may be reduced by up to 50%.
Note: Diameter eccentricity is defined as the maximum diameter minus the minimum diameter of a given cross- section.
5.1.4.2
The semiconducting shield shall have a maximum volume resistivity of 1000 Om at 90 ± 2 °C in accordance with Clause 5.6.1 of CAN/CSA-C68.5 and shall also comply with Table 2 of this Standard when tested in accordance with the physical properties test (ultimate elongation and tensile strength) in
CSA C22.2 No. 2556.
5.1.4.3
The extruded conductor shield may be supplemented by a semiconducting tape applied directly over the conductor.
5.1.4.4
The extruded conductor shield material shall be capable of meeting a brittleness temperature not higher than —25 ± 1 C when tested in accordance with ASTM 0746.CSA C22.2 NO. 131 pdf download.
